We are based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. However, we are committed to a fully remote workforce. We primarily keep east coast work hours but we are flexible and accommodate time differences as best as possible. 

About this role

As a Senior Product Designer at Truefit, you lead user experience and user interface design for one of our cross-functional product development teams, collaborating with the other roles to deliver awesome (useful, usable, desirable) software. You will continue your journey to master software product design and mentor your team as they apply human-centered, agile, and lean design principles to their work from initial concept all the way through to release. 

With a focus on creating useful and usable solutions, you will apply your skills and experience to include user research, rapid prototyping, and design thinking facilitation to help your team successfully navigate complex product development challenges and reduce risk effectively. 

This role reports to our Director of Product Design. 


Craft elegant, usable user interface solutions

  • Design effective UI prototypes and product solutions that support the overall design system and meet strategic product requirements 
  • Identify best practices and common design patterns in the market for usability 
  • Collaborate closely with your team’s engineers to guide front-end interface design solutions at the code level
  • Reinforce design aesthetics with a sophisticated eye for the distinctive qualities of the product brand and voice
  • Leverage your proficiency in the production tools that we use and guide the selection of new emerging tools as needed
  • Lead the definition of design systems, principles, and UI documentation to ensure effective implementation throughout the product
  • Lead information architecture definition and basic UI copywriting with the team
  • Implement content development based on a defined strategy

Apply research to collect insights that guide product success

  • Plan, execute, and analyze primary and secondary research to uncover user needs and context, validate assumptions, and test usability
  • Help your team to apply research insights to product roadmap priorities
  • Adapt our lean research methods to address changing needs and risks as they emerge
  • Collaborate with your Product Owner to establish measurable success criteria for each release 
  • Assist your team and client in defining customer segmentation strategy based on your research insights
  • Identify key value propositions for each user segment
  • Moderate customer-facing workshops as needed

Relentlessly pursue the intersection of user value and desired business outcomes

  • Identify unmet user needs and opportunities to satisfy users in ways that create measurable business value and market advantage
  • Collaborate with team members to define problem space priorities and identify critical assumptions that need to be validated
  • Identify roadmap priorities for upcoming releases and help the team accurately estimate effort and schedule

Use design thinking and communication skills to solve complex problems

  • Collaborate closely with the team’s Product Owner, Software Architect, and QA Analyst on product strategy, road mapping, data/information architecture, and budget estimation.
  • Share knowledge effectively with others inside and outside of the organization
  • Communicate effectively, even when things are not going well
  • Have an awareness to “read” a conversation with stakeholders and know when to be more or less “technical” 
  • Be able to drive conversations to completion and make decisions when necessary
  • Visually communicate thoughts and ideas to those around you 
  • Listen well and allow divergent ideas to emerge from collaborators
